General Description
Cryopreserved cord blood CD34+ cells are hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) that have been collected from peripheral blood, cord blood, or bone marrow and then cryopreserved for future use. Cord blood CD34+ cells are considered to be more naive and primitive than other types of HSPCs, meaning that they have a higher proliferative capacity and multipotent potential.
Technical Description
CD34 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that is expressed on HSPCs. It is involved in cell adhesion, migration, and signaling. CD34+ cells are capable of differentiating into all types of blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
Cryopreservation is a process of freezing cells to very low temperatures (-135°C or below) in order to preserve them for long periods of time. Cryopreserved CD34+ cells can be stored for many years without losing their viability and function.
Product Use Examples
Cryopreserved cord blood CD34+ cells are used in a variety of clinical applications, including: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation research (HSCT), cellular and gene therapy research. Cryopreserved CD34+ cells are a valuable resource for clinical applications. They provide a source of high-quality HSPCs that can be used to restore and repair the hematopoietic system, treat cancer, and develop new cellular therapies. Note: Research Use Only (RUO) CD34+ cells should never be used in any process that is transfused into a patient.
